Instructions
Begin by gathering the following ingredients: lean ground beef, cooked wild rice, egg, chopped portabella mushrooms, tomato juice, salt, and black pepper. Ensure your hands are clean before handling the ground beef.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, break the ground beef into several large pieces. Add the cooked wild rice, egg, chopped mushrooms, tomato juice, salt, and pepper. Using both hands, mix the ingredients until they are evenly distributed and hold their shape, which should take about 2 minutes.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each portion into a patty. Press the mixture gently between the palms of your hands while giving it a slight turn. Use your thumbs to push the mixture inward, forming a firm and well-rounded patty. Each patty should be approximately 1-1/2 inches thick.
Heat a charcoal grill to medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for a total of 10-15 minutes, turning once, until they reach medium-well doneness.
To assemble the burger, place each patty on the bottom half of a dark rye hamburger bun. On the top half of the bun, spread a dollop of sour cream evenly, and then sprinkle raw minced onions generously. Serve the burger open-faced for a delightful presentation.
Enjoy your homemade Minnesota Wild Rice Beef Burger, bursting with flavors and textures that are sure to satisfy your cravings.
