Ingredients
16each bibb lettuce leaves
1poundground pork
1tablespooncooking oil
1large onion — chopped
2clovesgarlic — minced
1tablespoonsoy sauce
¼cuphoisin sauce
2teaspoonspickled ginger — minced
1tablespoonrice wine vinegar
Asian chili pepper sauce — optional
8ounceswater chestnutscanned — finely chopped
1bunch green onions — chopped
2teaspoonssesame oil
Instructions
Rinse the Bibb lettuce leaves, pat them dry, and set them aside.
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground pork in 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, stirring often. Drain the excess fat and set the pork aside to cool.
Using the same skillet, cook the chopped onion over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it becomes translucent.
Add the minced garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, pickled ginger, rice wine vinegar, and optional Asian chili pepper sauce to the onions. Stir to combine.
Mix in the finely chopped water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil. Continue cooking for about 2 minutes until the onions become slightly translucent.
Arrange the lettuce leaves around the outer edge of a large serving platter. Place the cooked ground pork mixture in the center.
To serve, allow each person to spoon a portion of the meat mixture onto a lettuce leaf. Fold the lettuce around the meat and enjoy!
